National GNSS CORS Infrastructure

Overview:

The ‘National GNSS CORS Infrastructure’ website has been developed as an open and flexible service to display the approximate location of existing and planned CORS infrastructure across Australia.

The website combines a range of metadata provided by Government and Commercial operators of CORS services across different regions of the country. This information has been collected to support current research at The University of Melbourne and CRCSI-2 into evaluating the real-time positioning capabilities of a potential National Positioning Infrastructure (NPI) for Australia.

The website was developed by ThinkSpatial.

Purpose:

The website aims to include information from all organisations that operate or manage CORS infrastructure, whether it be a single base station or a network of receivers. By providing a standardised format and centralised record for displaying CORS metadata, it is hoped the website will eventually deliver a dynamic database for managing real-time changes and updates in a national CORS network.

It should be emphasised that the current website displays only approximate locations and more detailed information can be obtained directly from individual CORS operators.

Feedback and Suggestions:

User feedback is encouraged to support further development of the webmap.
